The prop firm graveyard
The crypto prop firm graveyard
Prop firms die quietly. By ProTradingVibes' 2026 census, roughly 72 of 302 tracked prop firms have gone dark — no statement, no wind-down, funded traders left holding nothing. This is the crypto wing of that graveyard, and the pattern that puts firms here.

What it promised
Advertised the highest headline split in the on-chain category.
How it died
The lesson: the biggest advertised number is not a safety rating. A 92% split you never reach is worth less than an 80% split that actually pays.
Why prop firms end up here
The 'highest split' trap
Firms buy attention with a number few traders ever hit ("up to 92%"), then can't fund the payouts when people do.
No verifiable proof
If payouts aren't on-chain, you're trusting a dashboard. When the domain dies, so does your evidence.
Anonymous team, no treasury
No public wallet to check, no named operator to hold accountable — nothing stops a quiet exit.
Sudden domain death
The classic tell: DNS stops resolving overnight, socials go silent, and there's no refund or payout plan.
How not to get buried with them
Pick firms whose payouts settle on-chain, so you can verify the treasury and the payout wallet yourself — on an explorer, without asking anyone's permission. That single test rules out most graveyard candidates before you ever pay a fee.

How many prop firms have shut down?+
Per ProTradingVibes' 2026 census, about 72 of 302 tracked prop firms have gone inactive. Public trackers list 80+ forex and futures firms closed since 2020; the crypto category is younger but already burying its first names, like GT Funded.
Why do prop firms disappear?+
Usually a mix of over-promising (headline splits they can't fund), no verifiable on-chain proof, an anonymous team and thin capital. When payouts outrun the treasury, the domain quietly goes dark.
Is my money safe if a prop firm dies?+
With most centralized firms, no — your fee and any funded balance are gone. With on-chain firms, your payouts settle to your own wallet as you earn, so a shutdown can't claw back what's already been paid.
Which crypto prop firms are still alive?+
