Aster x Propr Trading Tournament: free entry, $10,000 in ASTER

Last updated: 6 August 2026

Changelog β€” 6 August 2026: first published from the live competition page, with the full prize ladder, the 5,000-entry cap and the participant count at the time of reading. I refresh this page as the leaderboard moves and when Propr publishes anything it has not yet published.

The Aster x Propr Trading Tournament runs from 6 August to 13 August 2026, seven days, with a $10,000 prize pool paid in $ASTER tokens across 50 winning places. Entry is free with no requirements, capped at 5,000 participants. Every trader starts with $50,000 in simulated equity and is ranked on realized P&L, highest to lowest.

Disclosure: the Propr links on this page are affiliate links. They cost you nothing, they get you 5% USDC cashback on any challenge fee, and they help fund this site. The tournament itself is free and I earn nothing from your entry. Nothing here is financial advice.

The $600 that does not add up

Propr advertises a $10,000 prize pool and lists 50 winners. The 50 winners check out. The pool does not: adding the published tiers gives $10,600, a $600 gap.

I am not calling this a trap. The most likely explanations are dull β€” a tier was adjusted after the headline figure was set, or the pool is $10,000 and one line is displayed wrong. But it is Propr's own page contradicting Propr's own total, on a competition that opens in hours, and nobody else has said it. If you finish in the money and the payout differs from the ladder above, this is why. I have asked and will update this page with their answer.

What the format actually rewards

Ranking on realized P&L rather than equity changes how the last day works. A position sitting on a large unrealized gain counts for nothing on the leaderboard until it is closed, so the standings you see on 13 August at 6:59 PM are not the standings that pay. Expect a closing rush.

It also means the tournament rewards a different behaviour from the thing Propr normally sells. There is no drawdown limit to respect here, no daily loss rule, nothing to breach β€” the account is simulated and the downside is that you finish 3,000th. That inverts the incentive of a real Propr evaluation, where survival matters more than upside. Do not carry tournament habits into a paid challenge.

With 50 paid places out of a 5,000 cap, roughly 1% of a full field finishes in the money. That is generous by trading-competition standards, where the top 10 or 20 usually take everything.

These are the gaps I could not fill from the competition page. This section is the reason to bookmark the page β€” I fill them in as they are answered rather than guessing now.

  • Timezone of the 7:00 PM start and end. Not stated on the page. Check the countdown in your own dashboard.
  • Which markets are tradable during the tournament, and at what leverage.
  • How and when $ASTER is paid out to winners, and to which wallet.
  • Whether the $600 discrepancy resolves upward or downward.
  • Anti-collusion rules β€” the main rulebook prohibits opposite hedging across accounts, but the competition page does not say whether that applies here.

This is a series, not a one-off

The competition page still carries a banner thanking participants of a previous Lighter x Propr tournament, with a 20%-off code for the next challenge. So Propr is running these repeatedly with different partners. If you miss this one, another is likely β€” and the pattern is worth knowing if you are weighing whether to rush an entry today.

FAQ

Is the Aster x Propr tournament free to enter?+

Yes. The competition page states 'No requirements β€” open to everyone' under Eligibility. You do not need to buy an evaluation, hold a funded account or stake anything to join. Entry is capped at 5,000 participants, so the practical constraint is the cap, not the cost.

How are the rankings decided?+

By realized P&L, from highest to lowest, as stated on the competition page. Realized means closed trades only β€” an open position showing a large unrealized gain does not move you up the leaderboard until you close it. The leaderboard also displays equity, unrealized P&L and ROI, but the ranking metric is realized P&L.

How much capital do you trade with?+

Every participant starts at $50,000 in simulated equity. This is a tournament account, not a funded Propr account: you are not risking your own money and you are not trading real capital. The prize is paid in $ASTER tokens, not in trading profit.

When does the Aster x Propr tournament start and end?+

Trading runs from 6 August, 7:00 PM to 13 August, 7:00 PM 2026 β€” seven days β€” as displayed on the Propr competition page. Propr does not state the timezone on that page, so confirm the countdown in your own dashboard rather than converting from ours.

How many people win a prize?+

50 places are paid, from $2,000 for first down to $60 for places 36 to 50. That is a 1% chance of finishing in the money if the 5,000-entry cap fills β€” better odds than most trading competitions, which typically pay the top 10 or 20 only.

Entry is free and capped

1,250 of 5,000 places were taken nine hours before the open. If you want to see how Propr behaves before paying for an evaluation, a free simulated tournament is the cheapest look you will get. Read the verified data sheet or the full review first.

⚠️ Risk warning. Leveraged trading carries a high risk of loss and a competition format encourages risk you would not take with your own capital. Tournament accounts are simulated; results there do not predict results on a funded account. Nothing on this page is financial advice, no outcome is promised, and availability depends on your jurisdiction. 18+.
